Usage Notes

One to two times per week, gently massage over cleansed face and neck and remove with warm water. For best results, use after washing with one of Seaflora’s facial cleansers.

Using an exfoliant cleanses deeply by removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores to allow for greater penetration of other products. Increase the efficacy of the masques, serums and moisturizers in your skin care routine!

Pro Tip: Massaging exfoliant into the skin with deep pressure doesn’t clean the skin “better”. It can actually increase areas of inflammation, so always massage with gentle pressure.

What does Iridaea Exfoliator do?

This award-winning aromatic exfoliator cleanses, smooths, and brightens the skin using red algae, Canadian glacial clay, locally harvested sea mud, berry-derived AHAs, and two forms of Vitamin C. It unclogs pores, buffs away buildup, and refines skin texture—revealing a fresher, more radiant complexion. Seaflora's most thorough exfoliator for when your skin needs a serious reset.

Who is Iridaea Exfoliator best for?

Ideal for all skin types, especially those with congestion, dullness, rough texture, or stubborn buildup that gentler exfoliators can't tackle. It's powerful yet respectful of the skin barrier, making it a favourite in professional spa treatments across North America. If your skin can handle more active exfoliation, this delivers visible results.

How do I use Iridaea Exfoliator?

Massage a small amount onto clean, damp skin using gentle circular motions. Rinse off with warm water or a soft cloth. Use 2–3 times per week, or less frequently if you're new to physical exfoliation.

What step in my routine should I use Iridaea Exfoliator in?

Use after cleansing and before applying toner, serum, or moisturizer. For best results, follow with a Seaflora masque (like Iridaea Purifying Facial Masque) or hydrating serum to maximize absorption into freshly polished skin.

What makes Iridaea Exfoliator different from others?

Everything in this jar comes from Vancouver Island. It combines the detoxifying power of Canadian glacial clay, perfectly polished local sea mud, wild-harvested Mazzaella seaweed, natural AHAs from berries, and two forms of Vitamin C—all backed by spa-trusted results and wild seaweed science. The sea mud granules are naturally tumbled and smoothed by the Pacific Ocean, creating perfectly sphered particles that exfoliate effectively without micro-tears, scratching, or irritating the skin—unlike crushed shells, walnut pieces, or synthetic microbeads.

Is Iridaea Exfoliator safe for sensitive skin?

While this is Seaflora's most thorough exfoliator, the granules are naturally rounded and gentler than harsh, jagged scrubs. That said, if you have highly sensitive or reactive skin, start with once-weekly use and patch test first. For ultra-sensitive skin, consider Refining Facial Polish—Seaflora's gentlest exfoliator.

What's the texture and scent of Iridaea Exfoliator like?

Smooth and creamy with fine, natural grit that you can feel working. The texture glides across the skin without dragging, while the scent is fresh and floral from organic chamomile and lavender essential oils—no synthetic fragrances, just pure, natural aromatherapy.

How long will Iridaea Exfoliator last?

The 50 mL / 1.7 fl oz jar lasts about 3 months with 2–3 uses per week.

Is Iridaea Exfoliator safe during pregnancy or nursing?

This exfoliator contains chamomile and lavender essential oils. While generally considered safe, we recommend consulting with a healthcare provider during pregnancy or nursing for personal reassurance. The formula is free of retinoids, hydroquinone, and harsh synthetic actives.

What should I follow Iridaea Exfoliator with?

Follow with Sea Splash Toning Essence while skin is still damp, then apply your favourite Seaflora serum and moisturizer to replenish the skin barrier and enhance your glow. Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs actives more effectively—this is the perfect time to layer on hydration.

Is Iridaea Exfoliator hypoallergenic?

Yes—the formula is free from artificial fragrance, synthetic dyes, alcohol, parabens, and harsh preservatives. Formulated with gentle, natural, certified organic ingredients and no microplastics.

Is Iridaea Exfoliator vegan / gluten-free / cruelty-free / organic?

Yes—100% vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and crafted with wild, hand-harvested marine ingredients from Vancouver Island, BC. Every key ingredient is locally sourced from the Canadian Pacific.

Why is seaweed good for your skin — especially in an exfoliator?

Seaweed gives your skin exactly what it needs to thrive—minerals, amino acids, polysaccharides, and antioxidants. In an exfoliator, seaweed helps calm any irritation from the polishing action while supporting collagen, detoxifying, and deeply hydrating. The result: skin that's visibly smoother, stronger, and healthier—not stripped or stressed.

  • Not refillable
  • Yes recyclable: Glass jar with compostable outer box
  • Zero-waste ethos: Wild seaweed, glacial clay, and marine mud are all sustainably hand-harvested on Vancouver Island, steps from Seaflora's oceanfront facility in Sooke, BC

What if I have [concern: dullness / congestion / dryness / oiliness]?

  • Dullness: Dual Vitamin C + berry AHAs brighten and reveal fresh, radiant skin
  • Congestion/Breakouts: Clay and sea mud draw out impurities; AHAs clear dead skin buildup
  • Dryness: Removes rough, flaky patches while seaweed and glycerin maintain hydration
  • Oiliness: Glacial clay and sea mud purify and balance oil production without over-stripping
