Sustainably wild harvested Alaria marginata from the coastal islands of British Columbia. Wakame has a subtly sweet, distinctive flavour and satiny texture.
Commonly used in soups, particularly Miso soup, and salads in small pieces that expand when hydrated. Can be a side dish to tofu and dressed with soy sauce and vinegar/rice vinegar.
Wakame has one of the higher nutrient to energy ratios, and is among the very highest vegetarian source. A typical 1 – 2 tablespoon serving of Wakame contains 15-30mg of omega-3 fatty acids. It also has high levels of sodium, calcium, iodine, thiamine, folate, manganese and niacin.

- Weight Management: Seaweed may aid in weight loss due to its low-calorie content and the presence of soluble fibers like alginate that can suppress hunger.
- Blood Sugar Control: Compounds in seaweed may help stabilize blood sugar levels and increase insulin sensitivity.
- Heart Health: Seaweed contains soluble fiber and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, which may benefit heart health by reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
- Gut Health: Seaweed has fibers that act as prebiotics, feeding healthy gut bacteria and potentially improving digestive health.
- Immune Function: Seaweed may have compounds with antioxidant, anti-allergenic, and disease-fighting properties that help protect against infections.
